We had a decent stay at this resort, highlighted by the stunning views of Lake Bemidji and the charming rustic cabins. The rooftop bar was a fantastic addition, offering a beautiful spot to unwind. However, the dining experience left much to be desired, and the cabins could really use some updates. Overall, it's a great retreat for relaxation but has some room for improvement.
The cabins have a wonderful rustic charm, but they haven't been updated in a while, which can affect comfort. I rated them a 6 for their character but needed some refreshing touches.
Service was impressive, especially at the boathouse where they swiftly prepared our pontoon rental. I would rate it an 8 for their attentiveness.
The resort's location on Lake Bemidji is absolutely breathtaking, making it ideal for outdoor activities and relaxation. I'd give the location a solid 9.
Unfortunately, the dining was quite subpar. The red lake walleye I ordered didn't match expectations and was overpriced at $28. I rated it a 4 due to the disappointing meal.
The rooftop bar and pool areas were nice, providing a good space for leisure. The amenities receive a 7 overall due to their functionality.

My experience at Ruttger's was mixed. On one hand, the outdoor atmosphere was stunning, and the on-site dining was really delicious. However, housekeeping and maintenance left a lot to be desired, as we faced several issues during our stay. Overall, it has potential but could use significant improvements.
We stayed in a cottage that was rustic yet offered an excellent view of the lake. However, many lights were malfunctioning, and the heating situation was poorly communicated upon check-in.
The staff were quite accommodating, especially when addressing our concerns after a storm impacted our boat. They were quick to act and genuinely seemed to care.
Ruttger's location by the lake added to the charm, allowing for easy access to water activities such as kayaking. It was perfect for enjoying nature.
The on-site dining was a highlight; every meal we had was delicious, and the bar atmosphere was lively and fun.
I appreciated the outdoor offerings like kayaks, but the pool and gym were unexpectedly closed during our stay, which was a disappointment.
